Use a ‘Trading Standards approved’ trader from the Buy with Confidence Scheme
The Buy with Confidence Scheme is an approved trader scheme run
by the County Council's Trading Standards Service. It gives you
access to local 'Trading Standards approved' traders who can be
relied upon to provide a quality service to their customers. Every
trader on the scheme has been thoroughly vetted by Trading
Standards, so you can use them with confidence.

What types of businesses are covered by the scheme?
At this stage the scheme primarily covers traders in the home
improvement sector, but there are other types of businesses on the
scheme (eg window cleaners, aerial installers, gardeners), and the
scheme will be rolled out to other sectors over the coming
months.
Purpose of the scheme
The scheme is intended to marginalise rogue traders and promote
local, reliable traders, giving residents a source of traders they
can trust without the need to use doorstep callers.
Nominating a trader
The scheme is in its infancy and a recruitment drive has
commenced to recruit traders for the scheme. If you know of any
good local traders, please nominate them to join the scheme.

Invitations will be sent to the business inviting them to apply
to join the scheme. Buy with Confidence replaces the Registered
Trader Scheme. It gives you the same quality of traders but is
available to everyone in the county and covers a wider range of
businesses. It is free to use.
The checking procedure makes sure traders on the scheme are decent traders but does not give a price guarantee. You should always get three quotes to ensure you are happy the price is reasonable.
